problem

Recently, I ran into some trouble.

Situation:
I work as a Information desk staff. There was a rule set that People that are off duty are advised not to be behind the desk in fear of distracting the person on duty.

I came back from having some late night dinner. Planned to finish the remainder of my ice cream (2 spoonfuls to be exact) then head to the library to study. After sitting my bum down upon one of the 2 office chairs for approximately 1 minute, One of the CAs (aside from the one that was already working at the desk) came to the desk.

I was told off (in my opinion I was reprimanded) for being behind the desk when it was not my shift by the CA that approached the desk.

I was too shocked at the intensity/sternness of the tone, hence I did not argue. However after overcoming the initial surprise, I swiftly picked up my bag and headed for the Library.( I had left my bag in the office earlier). But not without slamming my fist into the row of metal mail boxes and chucking the ice-cream into the trash can on my way.

(End of Situation)

Aftermath: I had attempted to study in the library however, my blood was still boiling. Didn't accomplish anything that night.
Found out that the Hall Council needed the room for a meeting. So I was kicked out the second time within a short span of 2 hours. The latter was no issue (of course).

I Failed to Sleep that night, came down for a shift in the morning at 4.00am. Still trying to get the aggression out of my system, I wrote an extremely hateful note on facebook and posted it. Tagging 5 CAs that I could think of at that time (Except the one that pissed me off, again, of course).

The thursday had passed, however I still felt really angry so I decided to skip my much needed study session and go for practice just so I could "Blow off some steam".

Ironically, upon returning to the Hall, intermittent flashbacks of the whole problem resurfaced. Leaving me frustrated, and very annoyed at my inability to find my own equilibrium again.

Finally on Friday, after speaking with my boss about the whole matter, did I manage to find my center again.

My situation internally:

Firstly, I have always respected my fellow colleagues as friends and especially CAs as my superiors. Their main job is to take care of the welfare of a ton of residents.
Something that is amirable.

Perhaps overall I took the whole situation too hard and personally.
However, for someone I consider a friend that I really hold dear to tell me off so sternly is.. kind of hard to take. It was considerably a shot right out of the blue.

Especially when I first reached Minnesota and the first friends I've made were 3 CAs (1 of Them was from T-hall then) they had helped me settle into a completely foreign place and environment.

Well, back to the initial reaction, I was honestly Appalled at suddenly being told off as such. Then after the initial shock left me, I found myself thinking of how unfair it was to be told off as such.
- CAs themselves stay and "hang out" behind the desk after their hours quite a lot. Then I realized perhaps it was because as a Desk Staff I was not entitled to the same priviledges of a CA.
- Yet this same point had caused me to feel extremely unhappy that I was viewed as someone so insignificant.

Reasons why I did not argue when I should have:
- I have been in the military before. Number 1 thing you don't do if you are reprimanded or scolded by a superior is Argue.
- I was too shocked to react before he turned away and walked off.

Looking back, possible reasons why I took it so personally:
1.He was someone I respected + a friend
2. After getting to Minnesota, the first person to actually be this (excuse the language) "Ass-hoeic" towards me was also this person.

I have never been so pissed off since...God knows when. I should have argued then. Perhaps there would have been a better outcome.

Regarding the note posted:
- After being asked to re-read it again, It definitely seemed like a death threat. However I was merely writing the feelings and thoughts going on in the mind. Many have interpreted it as I was going to shoot someone up.

Expanding on this point: I have lived in Singapore for most of my life. No firearms are held by civilians. So if someone from Singapore read my note they would have thought, "Oh, he must have been really really fickin pissed off"
However I realized after a while that I am in America now. Guns are legal.
SO people actually get excited when someone writes about "Guns and shootings".
Anger blinds the eyes and clouds foresight. Most can testify to that.

On hindsight, it was dumb of me to vent using facebook.
Perhaps I should have sent e-mails to myself. Then re-read it and laugh at my own inadeptness at relieving myself of anger.

However Regarding the issue of "bridges burned":
It'll definitely take some time for rebuilding. Also, most who have read it would (possibly) think of me and link me to the VA tech stuff or anything to do with violence.
Damage is done. Can't be helped.
Right now, all I can do is await the news to finish spreading and see which friends actually choose to interact with me henceforth.(laughs)

Regrettably, I might have lost a few friends or potential friends. (sigh)
But hey, as I said, can't be helped.

But I will definitely not hang around the desk anymore.
On the Bright Side, I guess I know who will continue to befriend me and who to build stronger friendships with.

If anyone wants to talk to me about it, sure. Just ask. (well unless you're afraid of me now)

After speaking with my baby for a short while this morning i decided to check my e-mail and there it was!

However what i treasure more is the memory that I have that my baby and i spent walking around and laughing at the Hardgay toy rather than the toy itself.

For the past 4 weeks or so, when there were no serious training ( or none, to speak off), I took the time to speak to some of our members, on what they want for our future Beach tournament sojourn (local and oversea). I personally was hoping that we as Beach Ultimate community, could get together again and continue to improve our basic individual skills, basic team tactic (defense/offense) play so as we can, all of us stand a good chance of becoming better as an Beach Ultimate Frisbee player and as a team.
all of you rather played well on the last friendlies we had against the ‘oldies mixed freakshow’. That was sometime back in late June I believe before we stop training due to lack of participants.
I would love for all of us to be more prepared than that so as we can give any team teams a good fight during our coming beach tournament and also any other foreign Beach tournament if we are aiming to go.
my idea is to use the newly vacated Beach (next to Trapizza, if there is no event) and next to Sapphire if the former is occupied. We will start practice at 2.50pm onward ( ready to run). We run drills and learn plays. Particularly plays, both offensive and defensive. We will start with the basic vertical stack and basic horizontal stack (for offense) and basic man-on-man / 2-man for defense. After this, we can scrimmage and use what we have learned in a game situation.
All of us have experienced at different level and have different styles of offense and defense. We will put that aside and have a standard play as a whole (offense/defense). The zone offense takes time to perfect. The zone defense always need to be tight. We all need a lots of practice for this as a team. We will also need to have experience at different offensive line-ups… not just the 4-man stack! That will be easy to defend for experience team like Freak.
I do not wish to step on anyone’s toes here. I know some others have ideas on how to make BUMs play to perfection, as of right now, we don’t only need experienced players, we will also need players who can commit and dedicate to our program. We are all equal, as for now. I volunteered to lead the practice and becoming the team leader. If anyone out there think you can do a better job, step out and let us hear you.
I must let all you know that I am not as interested in creating an ALLSTAR nor I wanna be Mr Nice guy during training, what I am interested in is standing on the line on a Saturday and calling a T-stack or a 4-1 or a any other call-play or a zone D and everyone knows exactly what each means and what each position on the field needs to do...and not do... to make the play work. If we can do this on most Saturday...with everyone commitment, we will certainly be playing better in weeks to come! My take:
The English is close to atrocious. Spelling is Awesomely obnoxious.
Worked such as "sojourn" are used to a lousy effect-Much to the detriment to the whole passage and inhibits the reader's momentum. Aside from the constant pauses the reader is forced to make in view of comprehension, the attempts to throw in words that are rarely utilized by the writer himself impedes the flow.
The author has done himself a brilliant attempt at trying to put a few points across. Though, much deciphering was required.

These points (both inferred as well as stated) are:

--Beach Ultimate seems to be lacking players now. "For the past 4 weeks or so, when there were no serious training ( or none, to speak off), I took the time to speak to some of our members, on what they want for our future Beach tournament sojourn (local and oversea)".
Commitment seems lacking. (however perhaps one should think of the cause of such?)

--He has grandiose plans that do not seem to be coming to fruition. Having Scrimmages with local and varsity teams as well as in Philippines (note: he does not spell Philippines correctly).

--Listing out names of people seemingly "committed" to his cause puts a divide between the "quitters" and the "stayers". In essence trying to put across the point: If you are not with me, you're not part of the Program.

-- Also, the author is precise in stating his personal motives.
1. Promotion of Beach Ultimate under the name of B.U.M.S. (which upon inferrence would then lead onto the promotion of his personal frisbee company)

2."I do not wish to step on anyone’s toes here. I know some others have ideas on how to make BUMs play to perfection, as of right now, we don’t only need experienced players, we will also need players who can commit and dedicate to our program. We are all equal, as for now. I volunteered to lead the practice and becoming the team leader. If anyone out there think you can do a better job, step out and let us hear you."
This passage tells us that relations within the B.U.M.S are not going well at all (based on inference again). Dedication and commitment lacking in players is repeated here.
However the interesting portion would be the "We are all equal" yet he had appointed himself the Head of the movement. Based on social convention, to be a leader, one would be ABOVE the followers to be able to actually LEAD. Much contradiction here.
Also, there in an attempt to defend his self-appointment here as seem in "If anyone out there think you can do a better job, step out and let us hear you."
This simply put, after rephrasing, would be "I am the best leader you have right now, therefore, I you can't do better, follow me."
Inspiring. Inspiring indeed.

3. "I am not as interested in creating an ALLSTAR nor I wanna be Mr Nice guy during training, what I am interested in is standing on the line on a Saturday and calling a T-stack or a 4-1 or a any other call-play or a zone D and everyone knows exactly what each means and what each position on the field needs to do...and not do... to make the play work."
This simply emphasizes that he does not want to be having the role of just Team leader. What he wants is both Team leader + Coach. Again contradiction Perhaps?
For if one is a team leader, they lead the team whilst being in the game. A coach tends to stand on the side lines and coach. So which does he want?

4. All in all what is witnessed is the failing and falling-apart of the team called B.U.M.S.
So much so that a call for players to return has been made. Perhaps it is the leadership, perhaps it is the atmosphere, perhaps it is something unmentionable.

As One who is not part of this organization, I am glad. For if my team were to fall apart as such, it would be a sad, sad occasion.
From what I hear, equipment was not provided as promised.
Other minor kinks have occurred as well. Many of which could have been avoided or even if unavoidable, could have been remedied quickly so as not to lose valuable players.
For I foresee that in Many, the flames of passion have come close to being snuffed out.
Perhaps, we require another revival.
Perhaps, we need to bring the "fun" element back into Beach ultimate.

Been having A mild form of tonsillitis right after my awesome games @ MUDI.
That sucked bad. Was probably too tired from the stiff competition and lack of water. Anyways on monday, tuesday and wednesday nights the fever grew worse even under medication whenever it passed 4 o'clock or so...
I managed through all my classes still. Did my best.

Whenever It was late at night, I was alone in my room, wondering that if i passed out in my room whether anyone would know to check on me until my body smelt bad.

But I got better, slightly better, however I was attacked by a nightmare last night.

Before I begin, I shall tell you that
1. I did not watch any horror movies for the longest time.
2. I specifically did not watch anything "zombie-ish".

I dreamt something from the show "Resident Evil" happened.
I @#%^ing hate these kind of dreams maybe zombies are my greatest undead fear. maybe.

I think it's because of the idea that my corpse would be animated after death and i'd continue to kill even my own family and friends.
maybe possibly that if my soul was still stuck in the corpse and was unable to be released even whilst my body and mind were rotting away scares me. Watching your family members get torn apart is appalling , however watching it unfold with your body doing it is unbearable.

Anyways, It was just like resident evil. However these Zombies were like erm.. of unknown origin. I was running with my younger brother to this "safehold" building that looked like an opera theater. The Most interesting part was that we were convinced that we should watch this presentation about the origin of these zombies. Some quick documentary that was put together by some professor before he got killed.

Then just after we sat down, the movie flickered and died with a great scream coming from the projection room and I instinctively grabbed my brother and jumped up from my seat. In the fading light, I noticed that swarms of zombies were already streaming in from the entrances.

Franticly I looked for any exit. any exit at all. Heart pounding in my ears, Adrenaline pumping I Dashed headlong into one group of zombies and knocked them over yet at the same time sustaining many infected cuts from their claws. I grabbed my brother and pulled in the direction of the stage where there was this ladder suspended from the ceiling that enabled the stage workers to ascend it on normal days. Sadly the ladder only extended midway, another ladder was required to attach to before use. So I grabbed this other ladder that was lying on the floor and leaned i against the wall and ordered my brother to climb it.

He froze so i screamed, "follow me".
I clampered up the ladder and so did he. After he held onto the ladder that was to freedom, I kicked the one lower ladder and watched it crash into the swarming mass converging below us.
Then as we sped up the ladder towards the roof... I noticed that my hands were covered in blood. Thick blood.

Doubled check its source and found that it was from the ladder.... the words "no" echoed in my mind. The zombies had secured even the roof. I looked up and I saw another swarm on the landing above me. This filled me with utter despair.

Deep inside i was willing to die for my brother. However even this would have been in vain.

then I awoke. Consciousness, sweet consciousness.

Damn, i hate zombies.

On a brighter sun shiny note.. YEAH!!!!

I managed to watch "the Break-up".

though I must admit it was a good movie and I enjoyed it thoroughly, the was this certain element I didn't quite like.
More admittedly it Bugged me.

Questions.
Questions such as will it be difficult to actually live with someone in future?
Will I have to make tons of sacrifices just to please my
significant other?
Will it be tough on me?

I know that I am not perfect,
I would like to believe I'm be more sensitive than Gary (Vin Vaugh) in the movie.
But at times I do know that I'm stubborn,
hot-headed.
Sometimes when I lose my temper I yell.
Probably louder than Gary. (or maybe the sound effects weren't good enough)

While watching the movie,
there was this deep sense of sadness.
Coupled with a momentous amount of doubt.
On whether I would turn out to be the "asshole" Gary.
Well, obviously,
as people watching the movie we can appreciate the
piggishness of Gary.
Yet, when thrust in situations like that,
I'm not confident enough to say that I won't ever be like him.
That worries me.

Will I be man enough to admit I'm wrong?
Will I be willing enough to change everything for someone?
Will I?

Leaves many questions to ponder on.

As Yoda once said, "I see questions, you have.."

But unlike the Young Padawan learner, I do not have a Master Yoda to turn to for answers.

Thursday... or rather now is Friday morning, 1.30 am.
I'm still covered in Clay and very worn out.
Had ultimate frisbee at the mall area. Sucked ass... my flicks sucked. my throws grounded etc etc...

Went for class late. My clay animal died on me twice.
My wheel throwing sucked too.
Peter came by later on after class hours, seeing that i was practicing so hard he decided to help me.
And he did.
I improved.

Interesting thing today was that i found out a classmate of mine is homosexual.
Nothing interesting really.
Just suddenly came up in a conversation.
Me: "So, you're graduating this year huh?"
Him: "Yeah, actually this is my last class i've gotta take just for the credits."
Me: "Ah, so how's everything so far?"
Him: "Alright, just a little frustrated, but i'd rather be here than be doing nothing."
Me: "haha... why not get yourself a girlfriend then you'd definitely have tons to do."

Me: After fumbling with my clay for a second "pardon?"

After leaving my dorm,
I decided to head Downtown specifically to Target just to attain an item for my ceramics class.
A Spray bottle.
So I read my History book whilst on the bus there and walked to Target.
On my way there, I encountered this African American dude.
He asked me for 25 cents as he needed to take the bus.
I was actually caught up thinking about what I was going to write in my History Essay, so i replied, "Sure. I think i have a quarter."
Big mistake.
The next things that came out from his gap were, "Do you have anything that could give me a bus ride? A dollar or two?"
Then reality hit me.
Damn. This guy though he was dressed like the average american person around, was actually trying to canvas for money!
So I told him sternly, "No."
I then walked away, feeling like crap. Getting "conned" is not fun. Even if it's a quarter, it's still not fun. So today, i had actually paid 25 Cents to learn a lesson.
Never stop or give money to anyone on the street who asks for it--They are just wanting more money for either drugs, cigarettes, food or whatever.
Bums that can work yet decide not to.
ARgh.... annoying.

On Friday evening, there was a pick up at Edina. Edina's a city near minneapolis.
My former Pioneer hall Community Advisor Organised it. (He stays in Edina anyways)

I hitched a ride from the Captain of "Oh Boy". his name is Will Christopherson and he was the one who invited me to tryout for "Oh Boy". He was being pretty nice and he gave me, his girlfriend Michelle and A guy from St. Thomas named Kevin a ride there. Kevin's Nickname seems to be "rookie" hahaz.

anyways, we had a great time at the pickup. i did many good cuts and many good throws.

Had lots of fun.
I even picked up a soccer ball that's size 3 from the field. it had "Edina" printed on it. Cute little thing so i took it back.
Anyways, after that we went to Ruby Tuesdays and had dinner.
They talked a lot. But strangely being surrounded by ang mos i didn't really feel very at home. Most of the time i kept my mouth shut. Smiling more and talking less. At least till the food came then it was more chomping and enjoying of food and listening. The latter was more comfortable. hahaz.

I talked to Will about some stuff to do with "Oh Boy". I asked him, "would you want a player that can only commit to practices every saturday?" His answer was long winded, but essentially it meant no. Ironic thing was that i asked to get a lift from him to the tryouts again the next day. however after he told me he didn't need a player that could only come for one practice per week, i told him it's alright i don't need the lift no more. and i would put my heart and soul into Goose Egg. Wished him good luck and thanked him.

Then i was given a ride home by a guy called Reed. He is playing for a team called Liquid Assets this summer. Strong team. Paid some money for the gas just to show my appreciation.

Thought by the time i got home it was about 11.30pm, I still had the determination to do some reading for history. I was surprised that i managed to finish reading a given text by about 1 am.
Slept.

On Saturday morning, i awoke.
Feeling really stiff from the exertion on friday. Alarm rang at 8.30. I woke up at 9.30am. yes, i was that tired.
Then i made my way over to the west bank just to do some ceramics practice on the wheel as well as work on my animal project.
However, i only managed a disgusting looking cylinder as well as nothing on my animal.
At 1.30 pm or so, i hurriedly rushed over to Van cleeve Park for practice.
Realised my defense is not good enough.

Then i was lucky enough to be given a ride back to my dorm. Showered and walked to meet my 2 friends Dami and Long Lor at Coffman Union Building.
From there we took a bus to "Block e" that's downtown and watched Ocean's 13 first. Then we sneaked into Fantastic 4: The rise of the Silver Surfer just in time after the show. So i guess our 5.00 USD spent on a movie was a 2 for 1 deal. hahaz.

Was fun. Took a bus back and came back to the dorm.

Now, back here, whilst showering, I thought of the date and thought of my Anniversary. 1 year 2 months so far?
How much i missed her and how much my heart ached for her.
Amidst so much work from Drawing, Ceramics and History. Especially History...
I still have time and heart to think of her.
How much i Love her so.

The U of Minnesota's summer Club team is not Grey duck. neither is it Ugly Duckling.
This time it's all the way back to the basics.
Goose Egg.

Interesting name? Well, seemingly related to the Duck/Goose Family.
They were talking about getting the team to have a jersey.
This time It would have a The grey duck having it's big butt facing towards you and pushing an Egg into your face.

Looked hilarious. Saw the prototype. not really keen on getting another jersey though.

Anyways, today, I decided to stop believing.
I shall describe the dilemma to you. I was torn between two club teams. The 1st was "Oh Boy" ultimate. Oh boy is Co-ed. Meaning there are both guys and girls. It has this Sub Zero Coach leading it. His name is Wayne "Bueno" Romehildt.
He was the coach that brought Hopkins High School Ultimate team from zero to hero. From the depths of darkness and anonymity into the light. Ending of his coaching term with a bang, he left Hopkins after many consecutive years of Hopkins High School reaching Nationals. Even playing the finals in Nationals.
If no one knows that is the prestige of Nationals, here it is: 1st all schools go through Sectionals, then Regionals, then Finally Nationals. Nationals is where all the big names like Mamabirds, Hodags and other college teams vie for the Championship.
Other tidbits about "bueno" is that he was in the Marines last time, also, he was a SEAL. His coaching is currently class 2. which means there is some depth to his knowledge and simply means he's been there.

Basically, my attraction to "oh boy" was the Coach Wayne. With that kind of experience, who couldn't improve?

The second club i wanted to join was Goose Egg. It's mainly made out of students from the U of M as well as Alumni. All male team. Kick ass speed and high standard. However, it lacked a coach.

Today, "oh boy" was practicing at St. Louis Park. Goose Egg was practicing at Van Cleeve Park.
Van cleeve is on campus.
This was the main thing that influenced my decision.
If i needed to get to St. Louis park, i needed to drive there. I have neither a car nor a license. Relying on friends for lifts are unreliable and essentially annoying to the driver if it happens everytime there is practice.

My own two feet. My "car", my own biological system fuel propelling it. My rules. independence,
no problems. If i can walk i can get there.

That is what i did today. And just a few days ago my forehand blades were so annoying they almost blew out my mind.
Today. Yes, today. Finally today. All my forehands had 90% accuracy. Average of 1 out of 10 flicks bladed out. A vast improvement.
Ultimate Disc.
Caught a few in the end zone.
Missed catching more than my fair share of discs in the endzone. But all of the time, i was in the right place at the right time.
A few times I was Guarded so tightly that the forehand forces was strong.
I proved all of those people who didn't think i could flick wrong.
Threw the winning flick to the cutter in the endzone. Straight into his waiting hands. No crazy layouts needed to catch that one. just open arms.
Today, kicked ass.
Glad at my own improvement.
Still, my forehands lack the distance needed to span the whole field. More practice.

The day ended with a bruised middle finger, a few scratches on my right arm and remember the crazy layout I did just to get it away from the Defense.

Good times. Good times.

Now All it lacks is knowing that my baby is not still sick with fever.

I packed a sling bag and put in a jacket, a bottle of water and a book just in case i was stranded and needed some entertainment. I wore my Arena T-shirt and Khaki shorts along with Sports shoes just because i knew i needed to walk a vast distance. Perfect summer wear for comfort.

I boarded the Bus number 16 that headed for downtown Minneapolis.

2 minutes into the bus ride a pregnant African American lady boarded. I swiftly offered my seat.

Then after about 15 minutes as the passengers began to diminish in number, I found a seat. To my surprise, it was right next to this lady that was in charge of Centennial Hall. She happened to be taking the same bus and was en route home. She hailed me as a gentleman and in return, i just said it was the right thing to do. (my ethics lecturer must be so proud.)

I told her I was on an adventure into Downtown Minneapolis. Expedition or exploration whichever one would like to call it. My 1st stop was the Public library which many people have talked about. It was recently built and opened. It's architecture had the idea of the four seasons in it. In essence, the 4 sides of the building represented spring, summer, autumn and winter--this piece of information i had attained from chatting with her. She also added that many people have flocked just to view the unique architecture. However, she had failed to mention the name of the "famed" artist that dreamed the building into reality.

The visit was fruitful, found many books worth reading and many dvds worth borrowing.

Then I moved onto Nicolet Mall area. Where shops and office buildings were in abundance.
I soon found myself lost in this concrete jungle where above me branched a canopy of skyscrapers and around me were the tangled roots of pathways and roads.
Admittedly I was glad to find myself lost. For it was an adventure that had no hazards and nightfall was no where near. Summer sunsets begin at approximately 8.30pm and true nightfall engulfs the land at about 9.15p.m. or so...

While I was strolling at my own leisure, I suddenly felt a pair of eyes follow my every move. A policeman? a thief? or..? My mind raced then the feeling became more distinct, those stares actually belonged to a homosexual couple (or homosexual best friends on the prowl for fresh meat). They were sitting across the street. Unfortunately it was a street i had to cross. How was their sexual orientation apparent to me?

Simple.

There was a latino-looking one with eyebrow that were plucked to a thin fine line. Along with eye-liner and mascara to boot. whilst the other was this african american who was quite well built, and wore clothing that your average joe would consider causal dressing. Nothing was spectacular about the latter. Just that toothy grin and those flirtatiously feminine body gestures that took place whenever he talked to his partner.

As I walked past them, I felt their eyes slowly peeling off my clothes. Goosebumps and more goosebumps popped up on my skin. I can only assume they were "checking me out". For when i walked past them, i had given them a cursory glance, they gladly returned it and their eyes swiftly wondered down to my feet and back upwards. Now I know how it feels for a woman when heterosexual males driven mad with testosterone "check them out".

Interesting. Apparently i'm attractive both to males as well as females. I felt somewhat flattered yet disgusted at the same time after reflecting upon the day's events. Perhaps that was why my feet carried me as far away as possible in the least time required.

After going round and round the different shops without purchasing anything, I decided that it was time to head back. This time when approaching the bus stop to await the number 16, i spotted the same couple in a distance. This time, I noted the oh-so-familiar feeling of being observed like a chunk of meat. But, i was prepared and I totally ignored it till the bus came and took me safely away from it all.

I recall how admiring at attractive women usually allowed the male to be considered a "hunter".
Yet this time, the "hunter" had become the "hunted"?
Ironic role-reversal at it's finest.

Just came back from Down town. hunger called.
So i decided to try some take-out from the Noodles Company.
Japanese Pan noodles with Shrimp.
Yum yum for my tum tum.
I'm a lonely, lonely man.
Went out alone, Came back alone. Went to buy food alone. Ate my food alone in my room.
Yep. I wish SHE was here. So I could show her the delights of Minneapolis and explore all the nooks and crannies I have yet to conquer.

Palate can be satisfied to an extent. A soul and heart of joy brought by her presence makes everything nicer, the world a prettier place, the sunshine a gentle heat, and the wind a soulful caress.

without her around. Good doesn't seem -as- good. Great doesn't seem -as- great.

Practice was fruitful in a disappointing sense.
Still have yet to do a layout for a disc right in front of me.
Annoying.
Had tons of high school kids appear for practice today. Outdoing me in every turn.

All all my forehands bladed out. WHY????

no idea.
Maybe i lacked sleep?
maybe i lacked fitness?
i was feeling tired after 10 minutes of ultimate.
Am i getting anemic?
Never felt so breathless before?
Or is this yet another episode of House where some unknown malicious cause is affecting me?

I want to get stronger, faster, better.
I need to, i want to.

I'm working hard, but it's not coming fast enough.
Every blade that slices the air shreds the very confidence i have.

Now, it's time for rest.

"A few more steps, just a few more steps", echoed in his mind over and over again.
He looked around himself.
Scanned and pondered.
Spotting the white canopy of the Metrodome, he breathed a small sigh of relief and continued to trudge toward it.
It was Sunday, 0900hours.
It was summer, yet, spine-chilling winds swept between all the spaces between the buildings; across the cement pavement he walked on and straight through his whole frame. He had been clad only in a black ClimaCool Adidas T-shirt, a pair of Black corduroy pants and his favorite Nikes. Air Force Ones.
He pulled his hands out of his pockets and watched them clench and unclench.
Feeling each and every strand of tendon straining to respond to the neurotransmitters fired.
These hands were used to work, use to days of holding a writing instrument and holding a rifle.
Biting frost hand pervaded the sinews and even now, he had problems snapping his fingers.

Handler.
Friend.
Weird Ghetto way of snapping his fingers.

He shook off the memory.
He pursed his lips in a thin smile and shoved his numb hands into his pockets.

He had been walking for close to 2 hours now. Making wrong turns at the most crucial moments, sending him spiraling headlong into the depths of the concrete jungle called Minneapolis.

Suddenly he found his mind back in the times where he was wearing uniform. Heavy gear and equipment on his back. His signal antenna sticking annoyingly outward, rifle slung to his side. Warm, humid with tons of biting insects.
Forest all around him, nature-lovers' haven.
Every city boy's nightmare.
Static of the communications set in his earpiece. Trusty map and life-saving prismatic compass in his hands. Being "lost" was nothing new, but finding his way was always the end-result.

An involuntary shiver jolted him back to reality. He cussed under his breath for lack of foresight, he never expected he was going to be out in the cold, walking back to the campus by himself.
He berated himself for lack of preparation for the journey.

Words of his former drill sergeant rang in his ears, "always expect the unexpected, nothing would beat being prepared."

He had lacked cash in his wallet, any form of warm clothing, a map, a compass and some reading material that could potentially provide an escape to the situation. He had currently taken on the new role of being a student, casting aside a job that provided adventures with high risk coverage payment for education.

Being cast out into an unfamiliar territory with no back-up, no equipment and especially no compass was something even the best soldier was untrained for.

His mind kept bringing him to places in the past.
Shying away from the taunts the gusts of wind threw at it.

He reminded himself of the past few days.
Of how they were and how this situation had come to pass.

Friday: Asian Sensation of Ugly Duckling invited him for a game of pickup Ultimate at Wayzata.
Pickup Ultimate.
who could resist?
Even though it have been after a long run, he went.

Saturday:There was a game played at the river flats.
More Practice.
He had arrived on scene only to notice a lean, lanky male in the distance doing a warm-up jog.
He had been wearing a white Duckling Jersey.
And as he approached, a all too familiar toothy grin appear across his face.
Mikhail Golben.
Team mate, big-brother figure, friend.
Ultimate Fanatic.
And yes, that signature ear-to-ear grin.
Hot sun, Ultimate.
Fun.

Saturday Night: Asian Sensation of Ugly Ducking called. Party at his place.
Peter Kang. o'Peto. Kangster.
Waved to Ducking teammate Luke Ferguson on the way out of Centennial.
He was chatting some chick up while still sitting himself comfortably behind the front desk.
Suave. charming. Your usual run-of-the-mill Casanova? Maybe.
Amazing how Specialists get all the girls even without Uniform.

The night had turned out alright.
Keg emptied itself by the stroke of midnight.
He drank little.
Tried Sheesha for the 1st time.
Over smoked a lot.

Then came the dreadful navigation back, apparently he had crashed in Peter's room till daybreak.
By this time he war worn would physically, it had been a long time since his last conditioning phase. He was no longer what most would call fit. Fatigued, cold and moving forward with nothing but spirit and determination. Simply the motivation of getting home.

"Wonderful, no hangover" he thought.

He had received looks from the many African-American passers-by while finding his way.
Some looks were cursory glances, some were stare downs.
Some of them had slowly reached into their suspicious jackets.
Thankfully none whipped out a weapon.
Thinking of the many shooting cases in the U.S.A,
these thoughts only served to quicken his pace. He knew how one bullet damaged a body. A small whole in the front and a large on at the back.
That's how the spiraling motion of the bullet killed and wounded...
Peter's warnings reverberated in his ears.
"you might wanna be careful, this place is kinda 'hoodie".
Affirmative.
Careful indeed.

The Campus buildings never looked so welcoming in the distance.
Familiarity was a blessing.
He urged his worn out body onwards.
Finally reaching his hall and his room.
Ending his adventure that he silently swore never to go through again.
Adventure was enough for a weekend.

Sore from my game of pickup yesterday added with the run right before then, i still decided to go for pick up this evening.
Sadly, there was a severe lack of people. and we just threw the disc around.
Fun was the essence but still not quite ultimate.

I realized that my forehand flicks are getting further yet, not quite far enough. I can control a backhand and forehand mid-distance pretty well. Close to 90% it'll go to wherever i want it to go. And.. it usually veers left and right at will.

Tomorrow, i'll be having tryouts for the "Oh Boy" co-ed team. Just for fun. I'm actually more interested in joining Goose Egg because of the higher standard.
Anyways, We'll see after lots of plays. Time is on my side.

This morning i Woke up, Talked to my hunny-bunny. Which was as usual, Great!
Then after She went to bed, i decided to go have a piss... When i locked my door and was about to pull the key out of the lock, this guy with a shaven head came straight to me and asked, "Pardon me, but is the hair on the back of my hear even?"

?!?!!!

Then he turned his back to me for me to inspect his head.
Hrm... I gave him a few pointers and watched his back fade into the distance. Interesting how he loved to wear his pants slightly below his chest level. I wonder if i've seen anyone look more like a dope.

Then i went about my business for the rest of the day and after lunch i decided to go to the main lobby to take a crap, just because i couldn't wait to reach my own west wing building. Just as i sat down on the sat the fire alarm went off.. DAmnit!!

haha.. but i went ahead anyways.

Yep. that's a recount of my whole day.
Mundane yet interesting. Going to grab some dinner now.
